IAM Lead - Sydney - Hybrid working

We’re working with a
large, technology-led financial services organisation that operates as a true digital business, looking for an
IAM Lead to play a key role in building, operating and evolving identity and access platforms used across critical, client-facing systems.
This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership, suited to someone who enjoys working close to the technology while influencing how identity is designed, delivered and operated at scale.
About The Role You’ll join a dedicated
Identity & Access Management team responsible for delivering secure, highly available IAM and API gateway services in a cloud-first environment. Working with small, autonomous squads, you’ll own services end-to-end, from architecture and design through to build, deployment, monitoring and production support.
The environment is DevOps-led, with a strong emphasis on automation, reliability and continuous improvement. You’ll be trusted to “do it right”, contribute ideas, and help raise the bar for identity engineering across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities - Design, build and operate distributed IAM and API gateway services
- Own architecture, development, testing and operational support for IAM platforms
- Implement strong monitoring, alerting and automated delivery pipelines
- Support secure authentication and authorisation using modern SSO protocols
- Work with cloud-native and SaaS-based identity solutions
- Deliver incrementally in iterative development cycles
About You - In-depth knowledge of IAM principles, access governance, and role-based access control
- Experience with IAM technologies such as identity providers, directory services, SSO protocols (eg. OIDC , SAML), managing security access policies and tuning, monitoring IAM systems
- Hands-on experience on identity management tooling such as Ping, Okta, EntraID, IBM Security Access Management (ISAM) and/or IBM Security Verify
- Strong experience in cloud-based technologies and SaaS
- Experience in Web and API technologies (including REST, HTTP & cert management, API gateway proxies)
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Delivery pipeline (eg. Git, Bitbucket, Bamboo, etc.)
- Experience with Configuration management tools (eg. Ansible) and containerisation technologies (eg. Docker)
