Product Owner – Digital / Platform Uplift Initial Contract – Major Australian Bank

We’re supporting a large Australian bank that’s kicking off a stream of work across their digital and platform environment. They’re looking for a Product Owner who’s comfortable stepping into a complex space, bringing structure, and giving clear direction to delivery and engineering teams. This will likely be an initial 12 month contract with view of extension. 

Rate $950 - $1,100 

What you’ll be working on
  • Owning the vision, roadmap and backlog for a core area of the banking platform (digital, payments, onboarding, risk or customer).
  • Turning business objectives into clear, prioritised backlog items that teams can actually execute on.
  • Leading discovery across new features, regulatory changes and operational uplift work.
  • Partnering with engineering, architecture, risk and operations to find practical solutions and manage trade-offs.
  • Keeping delivery moving by making calls quickly, removing blockers and managing dependencies across squads.
  • Providing structure, documentation and decision clarity for risk/regulatory-driven work.
  • Presenting updates to senior stakeholders and keeping them aligned on priorities, timelines and risks.
What they’re looking for
  • Solid Product Owner or Product Manager background within banking, fintech or payments.
  • Someone who can take a messy problem, break it down, and bring order without overcomplicating it.
  • Confident working with tech, risk and business stakeholders, and able to push back when needed.
  • Strong understanding of agile delivery inside a large enterprise (and the reality of how it actually works).
  • Experience in one or more of the following is ideal:
    • Payments, cards, lending, onboarding or KYC
    • Risk / regulatory uplift programs
    • Digital platform or customer experience
    • API / integration-heavy products
  • Good communicator who can keep multiple teams aligned without losing sight of the overall outcome.
