About the Role

We are partnering with a leading e-commerce business who are seeking an experienced Senior Google Cloud Engineer to join their team starting on a 6-month day rate contract that will continue to extend. This is a hybrid role with office days 2 days a week.

You'll play a key role in building, automating, and optimising cloud platforms and delivery pipelines, working as a senior contributor within a high-performing engineering squad.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and support scalable and secure GCP environments
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines with a security-first mindset
• Lead/mentor delivery within a modern Agile engineering squad
• Drive automation across deployment, monitoring, and operational workflows
• Troubleshoot and resolve cloud, platform, and networking issues
• Contribute to cloud governance, security and platform standards

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform 
• Kubernetes experience, ideally with GKE
• CI/CD expertise — comfortable with multiple tooling ecosystems, building secure and resilient pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab)
• Infrastructure-as-Code automation, including Terraform (Terraform Enterprise a plus)
• Security-first mindset aligned with secure-by-design / SecOps principles
• Networking knowledge (VPCs, DNS, routing, firewalls, load balancing)
• Scripting experience (Python, Bash or Go)
• Ability to collaborate and operate as a senior technical leader / squad lead
• Proven ability to solve unexpected issues quickly and collaboratively
• Passion for technology and continuous learning — stays current with modern cloud engineering practices
