Senior Data Engineer - Financial Services
160-170k + Super (12 months FTC) 

This role sits at the centre of a major enterprise data transformation, working with business stakeholders to turn data goals into actionable outcomes. Embedded within a domain-aligned data product team, you’ll collaborate with SMEs and engineers to enhance a centralised data platform that supports critical decision-making.

You’ll take a hands-on role in building and curating core data assets, developing clean, scalable pipelines, and transforming raw inputs into consumable data products such as APIs, reports, and dashboards. As part of the wider data engineering community, you’ll help define the standards, frameworks, and best practices that underpin a high-performing, enterprise-grade data environment in one of Australia’s most trusted financial institutions.


Technical Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer, with hands-on expertise across AWS services covering ingestion, transformation, orchestration, storage, analytics, and distribution.
• Strong understanding of data modelling principles and the ability to design scalable, well-structured data environments within cloud-based data warehouses.
• Demonstrated capability in data architecture and solution design, with familiarity in DevSecOps principles to deliver secure, automated, and production-ready data pipelines.
• Practical experience working with real-time data streaming, particularly using Kafka and complementary AWS technologies.
• Skilled in modern data engineering tools such as Airflow, AWS Glue, Apache Iceberg, Athena, Redshift, and DataZone.
• Competent in developing data visualisation solutions using Tableau, Power BI, or QuickSight to translate complex datasets into actionable insights.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, Spark, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools including Terraform or Terragrunt.

Any experience with Capital Markets will be hugely advantageous.
