The Australian Girls Choir (AGC) is Australia’s leading children’s performing arts organisation, dedicated to empowering girls through music. We have more than 6,500 choristers training in six Australian cities and we’re looking for an energetic and talented individual to join our senior team in
Brisbane.

We are seeking a suitably qualified accompanist and choral educator with enthusiasm, energy and proven teaching skills to work with our Performing Choir choristers
– our most senior level. This work is based in Toowong, Brisbane.
Successful applicants will have: - Excellent piano accompanist skills
- Substantial experience in music, performing arts, choral conducting & education
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate young performers
- A passion for girls’ education and the drive to champion the value of Performing Arts participation
- Commitment to teaching weekly classes during school terms as well as occasional weekend work for events
- A qualification in music and/or teaching (desired)
- A valid Working with Children’s Check
About the role: This position will play a pivotal role in the development and leadership of our senior choristers (between the ages of 13 – 18) to enhance their aural, vocal and performance skills, and stage presence. This includes co-teaching and accompanying weekly classes on Thursday evenings during school terms, as well as working at AGC concerts & rehearsal weekends – this may include up to 8 weekends per year. The successful applicant will preferably attend our annual residential music school, which runs for approximately 5 days and falls during the April school holidays.
Applicants will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work within a team, as well as strong music and accompanist skills and an interest in teaching wide-ranging repertoire that features dynamic staging and choreography. As classes are extra-curricular most of our casual staff members hold full-time positions outside the AGC. Many of our tutors find that working with the AGC provides them with an opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic team of teaching professionals; complements their performance practice and contributes to their sense of personal achievement.
